Last week during Nintendo Direct, Capcom announced its first major expansion for Monster Hunter Rise. Sunbreak will be a ‘massive expansion’ and while the initial trailer only confirmed a Switch release in 2022, Capcom has since clarified that the expansion will also be coming to PC at launch.
Monster Hunter Rise has yet to release on PC, but Capcom has already announced that it will be coming in early 2022. While the release of the base game on Switch and PC is staggered, the expansion’s release won’t be. In a blog post over the weekend, Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will “launch simultaneously” on Nintendo Switch and PC in Summer 2022.
This is a significant change, as the releases of Monster Hunter World, its Iceborne expansion and Monster Hunter Rise were staggered, with consoles coming first and PC getting content up to a year later. Perhaps the next major Monster Hunter title will see a simultaneous release on PC and console at launch.
Capcom is scheduled to reveal more about Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak during the Tokyo Game Show later this week.
KitGuru Says: I’ve been playing a lot of Monster Hunter Rise on Switch, but with this expansion, I’ll likely be moving over to the PC version, particularly now that a simultaneous release is confirmed. Have any of you played Monster Hunter Rise already? Are you waiting for the PC version?
